SKINS whose manifesto includes championing sporting values that inspire social change, is backing PRPW in its work to provide professional and semi-professional players of Pacific Island heritage in the UK and Europe with the support they need to overcome the challenges of the game at a professional level and overseas living.

PRPW Director, Dan Leo said: “We are immensely grateful for the support from SKINS and are delighted that such high profile organisations have seen the value in our work and our community”.

“With the obstacles facing Pacific Island players well documented of late, it is important that any assistance provided is done in a sustainable manner.” Leo said. “This partnership helps provide Pacific Islanders with solid welfare programmes and importantly, an un-biased voice, which in turn will help us continue to push for better rights and conditions for Pacific Island teams, players and families.”

SKINS Chairman, Jaimie Fuller, said: “SKINS has a history of supporting Pacific Island rugby. We supported the teams and players from Tonga and Samoa for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Importantly, we also created The Pacific Island Supporters Club, recognising the contribution made by the Pacific Islanders to the great game of rugby. Rugby would not be the same without the richness of culture provided by the Islanders. SKINS support of the PRPW builds upon our previous campaigns to support and nurture rugby talent. It is time that we stand up for Pacific Island rugby as it embodies and expresses the true spirit of competition.”
